Character Design

When i design my character, i always want to make sure that if a culture is going to be an inspiration that i make it appropriate and accurate as representation is very important in animation. Here i will explain the thought process of what went into designing some of these characters i have created and worked on.

Kaze Thumbnail design pass one

Kaze is a character i am developing for a series i would like to write called 'Malicious or officious?'. Kaze i meant to represent a Wind element kitsune. I took inspiration from different elements about wind and tried to mix that into her design from the cloud like hair to large wings. The 3rd design was the one chosen and was moved into deciding about clothing.

Mori Turnaround Reference Sheet

Another character that was designed for 'Malicious or Officious'. Mori is meant to be a forest like Kitsune, her design heavily inspired by photos of bamboo forests and large rooted forests that fills Japan's country side.
